Happy New Year From a Mom of Three

The holidays were a blur this year. A joyful, foggy, sleepless blur. I had my third baby in mid-December and then we drove to Texas to be with our family for Christmas. It was a LOT of fun but I'm only just now starting to feel like we're back in a "normal" routine. It's a new normal. With 3 kids. I'm still figuring it out....

I'm not very good at taking pictures when I'm groggy and delirious, so I've been trying to catch up before my baby isn't an infant any more. (All the pics at the hospital were taken with my point & shoot and I hardly took any on our Christmas trip.)
I set the camera on the tripod for these two B&W shots and let my older two kids take turns pushing the button on the shutter release cable. It was tricky to get the photos I wanted (with me in them), but it worked. They took about 50 pics each, so I got some great shots of me making "ok that's enough" and "please take turns" faces. (I deleted those.)
And then I let them jump on my bed to reward them for their patience and hard work. : )

I won't be doing any client photo shoots for a few more months. For now I'm just adjusting to life with 3 little ones. My house is a mess and I'm exhausted, but I'm happy and thankful and life. is. good.

Tim + Rachel Engagement Shoot

I met Rachel last year through a mutual friend and then a couple of months ago I got to take some studio portraits of her and get to know her better. She's an artist and makes gorgeous jewelry. See those earrings?
She also happens to be really beautiful and a lot of fun, too, so I was SUPER DUPER excited to do her engagement session a couple of weeks ago. Turns out her fiancé (whom I met for the first time at the engagement shoot) is also handsome and hilarious and it ended up being one of the most fun shoots ever. They were up for anything and beautiful day + beautiful happy people = awesomeness. I'm just sayin'....

Here are some of my favorites:
We started in Tower Grove Park...with a blanket...
And a bike...

A wardrobe change and then over to Lafayette Square...where they didn't flinch at the idea to scoot up the alley wall and act like they always sat there! : )  You guys rock.
Some urban-ness....
And then Tim's awesome red truck for a final prop. : )

Congratulations, Tim and Rachel!! Hope you like the pics as much as I do. : )

Amanda + Philip Wedding Photo Booth

I'm behind on this post by several weeks, but it makes it no less special. : ) My sweet friends Amanda and Philip got married last month. I'm not booking ANY weddings right now (pregnant and home with two kids) but they asked me to do a fun little "unboxed" photo booth for their reception and I said, "YES!!! I'd LOVE to!!"

Amanda picked the fabric and made or bought all the props. I sewed the fabric into a hanging backdrop (curtain style), showed up and had a blast watching their guests be silly and fun.

The photographers for the wedding were from Beautiful Mess Photography, but I snapped these two pics during the ceremony. I couldn't help it. She looked so happy and glow-y.

Don't you just LOVE her dress?!! And her sweet hair piece?!!! Gorgeous.

And then off to the reception to celebrate!

I have to thank Alyssa Reeves from 2 Reeves Photography for helping me. We both had a lot of fun. Congratulations, Amanda & Philip!!!

If you're interested in booking me for an unboxed photo booth email me for more info!! It's a blast. You won't regret it. I'm available for weddings starting in February 2012.

Live, Love and Remember

It's a cool, rainy morning. I tried to get some work done, but the kids' requests to turn the living room into a fort city won me over. It seems like the perfect weekend to spend with the ones you love and savor every second. Here are some pics from our morning.

My thoughts and prayers are with our country as we reflect on the 10 year anniversary this weekend. Photos and videos from that horrible day always make me cry, but I think it's important to remember the people that were lost and the amazing people who helped save tons of lives.....We love you, New York.

Recent Work for Second Pres

In early June I had the pleasure of working with Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN to get some new photos for their website. Guided by one of their graphic designers, I was set loose to get shots of the church on a typical Sunday morning and evening. It was a great experience and everyone was incredibly warm and friendly. I hope I get to work with them again. Check out their redesigned website with 8-10 of my photos scattered about: 2pc.org
